[ Abstract ] Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders is a group of immune-mediated inflammatory demyelinating diseases of the central  nervous system, mainly involving the optic nerve and spinal cord. It can also be manifested as acute brainstem syndrome, acute diencephalon  syndrome, cerebral syndrome and medulla postrema syndrome. More and more studies have shown that NMOSD patients have cognitive  impairment, but the onset of NMOSD is hidden, and it is easy to be ignored clinically. This paper reviews the research progress of cognitive  impairment of NMOSD from the aspects of neuropsychology, neuropathology, immunology and neuroimaging.
